BIÑAN--Jhan-Jhan Melliza may be known for his offensive firepower that Stallion Laguna head coach Ernie Nierras calls him "the catalyst in our attacks."

But on Saturday night against JPV Marikina, Melliza showed that he can be a two-way player as well.

The "Mighty Mouse", as what Laguna fans, especially the ultras group Lakeside Squad, tag him, is now using his speed and quickness too in stopping the opposing side's offense as evident in Laguna's 4-1 blasting of Marikina at the Biñan Football Stadium.

"Now, he's learning to defend also, which is good," continued Nierras in the post-match press conference at the Alonte Sports Arena. "It's a big plus."

Melliza, who drilled the first goal of the match, was named Man of the Match.

Melliza's improved defense will be put to a test once again when Negros visits Laguna next week.
