Before World Cup, Germany still on top; Azkals drops at 115

MANILA -- Before the most-awaited World Cup, FIFA released on Thursday the latest world's rankings for this June holders Germany still leading the men's rankings and the Philippines sliding down once again in a seesaw year.


The reigning world champions still hold the top spot for the ninth month in a row, with Brazil in second as the biggest sporting event on the planet kicks off in six days time.

Belgium, Portugal, Argentina, Switzerland and France retain their spots from third to seventh, while Poland and Spain swapped places with the former moving up at 8th. 

Australia just overtook Iran to be the top Asian side at 36th with Vietnam still ASEAN top dogs in 102nd.


The Azkals, who are yet without a manager and a match since March 27, slide down four places to 115th, after getting their record last month without breaking a sweat.

European strugglers Azerbaijan is the best mover up by 15 places (105, from 120) while Guyana is the worst mover down by 18 places (182, from 164)
