Blackwater to represent PH in Asia League tourney

CALAMBA--Blackwater will be the Philippines' representative to the Summer Super 8 tournament.

In a statement by Asia League, the organizer of the event, on Tuesday night, the Elite are among the seven teams who were named as participants of the tourney slated for July 17-22 in Macau.

Blackwater, however, will have a tough competition as it will be joined by the Chinese clubs Xinjiang, featuring Gilas naturalized player Andray Blatche and former NBA player Zhou Qi, and Guangzhou. Korean sides Incheon and Seoul Samsung, led by former Magnolia import and current South Korean naturalized player Ricardo Ratliffe, Japanese club Fukuoka, and ABL side Formosa, representing Chinese Taipei.

The last participating team will be announced at a later date.

The Elite will be using the said tournament as part of their buildup for the PBA Governors' Cup.
