SAN JUAN -- Ateneo De Manila have ended their seven-year wait to regain the FilOil-Flying V Preseason Cup, dethroning San Beda in a clinical 76-62 rout Saturday evening at The Arena.

The Blue Eagles left the Red Lions in the dust in the second quarter and never looked back, completing a record 12-0 sweep to annex just their second ever crown in the premier preseason hoops tournament.

Angelo Kouame shone the brightest with his double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds, eleven of them from the defensive end to cap off his MVP plum in his first tilt with the reigning UAAP Champions.

Kouame was joined in the mythical five by fellow Blue Eagle teammates Thirdy Ravena and Matt Nieto, La Salle's Justine Baltazar and San Beda's Jayvee Mocon.

Mocon lead the Red Lions with a double-double of 14 points and 12 boards in a losing effort, in which they are preparing for their NCAA title defence next week.

Ateneo clamped down on San Beda after a close first quarter, limiting the Red Lions to just eleven points in the next ten minutes.

The departure of guard Robert Bolick did not help in their offense, as they were limited to just 28% from the field.
