MANILA--Batangas City may be the favorite to win it all in the upcoming MPBL Datu Cup.
But for Coach Mac Tan, the other 25 teams in the field--not just the Mandaluyong El Tigre--could give the Athletics a tough test.
"I think lahat naman [ng mga] yun ay mga tough challenges," Tan told Dugout Philippines on Monday.
He then simply explained, "Naka-scout kami sa kanila."
Being the champion of the recently concluded Rajah Cup makes Batangas City, backed by Tanduay, an apple in the eyes of the teams who want to bring home the title in the new MPBL tournament that will kick off right on Independence Day.
Not to mention that the team will bring back the core of its championship squad last conference, although Bong Quinto will be a key loss due to his commitment with Letran in the upcoming NCAA season.
Tan, however, downplayed his club being too strong, saying, "Siguro, prepared lang kami. We always stay humble, and we just worked until makuha namin yung goal namin."
He then vowed, "Rest assured. We'll prepare for them.... Hopefully, this coming conference, ganun pa rin ang mindset ng players pati ng team."
