CALAMBA--The Philippine Volcanoes scored a 38-12 win over Singapore to close out the Asia Rugby Championship Division 1 series at the Southern Plains turf here on Tuesday.

After a tight first half that ended with the Philippines holding an 18-12 lead over Singapore, the former turned the tides in the second half, completely shutting down the latter.

"The boys stuck at it. We were solid on defense. We didn't let them through," team captain Steve Howorth said on the second half showing of the Volcanoes, which was similar to how they came back to steal Game 1 on Saturday.

Rob Fogerty, who scored the eventual game-winning try on Saturday, showed his prowess in penalties on Tuesday, converting four penalties and three conversions for 18 points, outscoring the entire Singaporean squad.

Justin Coveney made two tries for 10 points, while Howorth and Joe Dawson scored the other tries for the Volcanoes, who won the title for the first time in six years.

Matthew Humphries and Peter McFeely each made a try, while Ishraff Marah added a conversion for Singapore.
