QUEZON CITY--Arwind Santos admitted to Dugout Philippines that he did not expect a backlash from no less than the alternate governor of Rain Or Shine regarding his "prediction" on Sunday night.

The San Miguel forward, when asked by reporters on who he would want his team to face in the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals, said that he and his teammates do not see ROS beating Ginebra in their semifinal affair.

This led to Edison Oribiana, the Elasto Painters' alternate governor to the league board, lashing out at Santos for his "insult to the entire Rain Or Shine organization and its fans."

"Nagulat ako, pero kanya-kanyang reaksyon yan eh," Santos said on Tuesday after the pre-Finals press conference at the Sambokojin Restaurant within the Eastwood City complex.

He then clarified, "Unang-una, gusto kong i-explain yung side ko na wala tayong gustong sagasaan o gusto tayong tamaan. Ang akin is prediction or opinion. Hindi masama yun, di ba? Kung may nasagasaan man o nasaktan, sorry. Yun lang."

When asked for a reaction on Oribiana further calling out Santos "that his arrogance has no place in basketball," the latter said, "Hindi ko na kailangang patulan ang mga ganyan kasi marami namang ganyang mga tao na minsan, mali yung pag-intindi. Hayaan na lang natin siguro. Ipagpasa-Diyos na lang natin ang lahat. Basta ako, wala akong masamang intensyon."

On what he learned from the surprise debacle, Santos said, "Maging malawak lang sana ang pag-iisip natin at saka huwag tayong pusong mamon, kasi sa mundo natin, pag pusong mamon ka, di ka mabubuhay basta-basta."
