Baste fend off late JRU challenge to go even

SAN JUAN -- San Sebastian saw their first half onslaught disappear but they get their act just in time to repulse still-winless JRU with a 86-76 win in the second of NCAA's Tuesday tripleheaders today at the FilOil-FlyingV Centre.

Looking to bounce back from Friday's setback against Letran, Egay Macaraya's Golden Stags saw their 21-point lead in the third period disappear before they hit big shots to go back at .500 after their first four games of the season.

Alvin Capobres paced all scorers with 16 points, 13 in the second period, with Allyn Bulanadi and RK Ilagan not far behind with 14 and 13 respectively.

Michael Calisaaan had ten points and collared 13 boards for a double-double as Baste moved up to 2-2.

MJ Dela Virgen had 13 points for the Heavy Bombers who dropped to their third straight defeat.
