QUEZON CITY--LA Tenorio's birthday just got better.

Ginebra gave him a late birthday gift at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, a win against newfound rival Meralco in Game 1 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup quarterfinals.

But if he is to be asked, the star point guard would rather have a series sweep as a present.

"Mas masarap kung makumpleto sa Wednesday," said Tenorio, who had a quiet outing of four points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. "Yun talaga ang gusto ko. This one and Wednesday. Yun talaga perfect birthday gift sa akin talaga."

However, he is also expecting the Bolts to fight back.

"We know that the game on Wendesday is not going to be easy--harder than this game actually. We are expecting that," Tenorio continued. We know how Coach Norman [Black] adjusts doon sa Meralco. Hinding-hindi sila basta-basta magpapatalo. Hopefully, sa Wednesday, ma-overcome namin sila and advance to the next round. Para makapag-celebrate naman. Hindi ako makapag-celebrate."

Tenorio then vowed, "We will try to finish the game on Wednesday."
