San Juan City, PH - Blowouts and back-breaking runs were on spotlight as NCAA Season 94 Seniors basketball festivities sail through, Friday night at the FilOil Flying V Center.

Colegio de San Juan de Letran finally barged into the winners' bracket as they knocked over San Sebastian Golden Stags in the night cap, 83-76.

Bong Quinto and JP Calvo tag teamed once more as they put the game out of reach, inflating their lead to 16 points at one stretch before settling for the outcome.

Calvo took player of the game honors, stringing up 16 markers on top of his 3 board, 1 dime, 1 swipe effort for coach Jeff Napa's Knights. Quinto, meanwhile, shared 17 points, in addition  to his 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

“The boys have settled down already and we addressed our previous mistakes. Our leaders really stepped up and they were able to bring up the team,” said Knights head coach Jeff Napa as they improve to a 1-1 record.

Allyn Bulanadi top billed for the Golden Stags with 21 points in the loss.

In the 2:00 pm collision, Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates listed their third consecutive victory as they blew out Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers, 88-56.

The blowout also gave their team manager Andrew Lopez a perfect birthday present.

Seldom-used spitfire Kim Cinco unloaded all of his 11 points (4-for-5 shooting) in under seven minutes of play to take best player honors for the Pirates.

Mike Nzeusseu paced all players after bruising up 21 points and 10 boards. He also dished out 2 assists and denied 2 shots in the runaway.

“I told the team that we should not fall into the trap that we are a good offensive team and not repeat the things that we did last game,” Pirates head coach Topex Robinson said.

Lyceum forced 34 turnovers on JRU, converting them to 30 markers all game, with the lead peaked at 36 points near the end.

The game was tight in the first 10 minutes, with the Pirates leading 21-16 when they uncorked their patented pressure defense in the next three periods.

CJ Perez also made significant contribution for the Pirates, chipping 12 point, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.

Jed Mendoza, meanwhile, paced coach Vergel Meneses' Heavy Bombers with 14 points in the defeat, further sliding them down to 0-2.

At lunch time action, Yankie Haruna and the CSB Blazers braved Taft floods and vented their ire on a hapless Mapua Cardinal side, 90-79.

Haruna, topscoring with 19 points, braved knee-high floods with his team mates and barely reached the venue narely shaking.

"There's still a lot of things to improve. The win will serve as a preparation against San Beda. Hopefully, we could get breaks in the game," stated Blazers coach TY Tang.

Rookie Justin Gutang also showed statement that he can shoot as he chugged in 17 markers spiked with 5 booming triples in almost 30 minutes. He also had 10 assists, 3 rebounds and a steal for the effort.

Saint Benilde broke free from Mapua's defensive cudgels, and shot 35 of their 63 attempts as compared to the Cardinals' 31-for-72 clip. Twelve of which came from rainbow distance.

A minor altercation at the 2:31 line of the third period occured as Clement Leutcheu elbowed Denniel Aguirre in the ensuing rebound play.

Christian Buñag and Noah Lugo mounted a spirited comeback, trimming the lead to 2, 61-59 after three.

Score was all tied up at 71 apiece when the Blazers, unloaded a 19-8 haymaker, highlighting 17 straight points before settling for the final count.

Justin Serrano and Noah Lugo both chipped in 14 markers for the loss.
