MANILA--Despite a gallant stand, Batang Gilas fell prey to Croatia after a 97-75 rout to open their respective campaigns in the FIBA U17 Championship in Rosario, Argentina early Sunday (Philippine Time).

The Croatians took advantage of Batang Gilas' 28 turnovers and Kai Sotto's foul trouble, quickly opening a double-digit advantage and never looked back.

Matej Rudan led Croatia, which dished out 28 assists, with 16 points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block, while Matej Bosnjak added 14 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
