MANILA -- And the Europeans got their payback really big this time.
Europe (EU) ultimately got its revenge over its heartbreaking sweep in last year's edition after dismantling archrivals North America (NA), 3-1 to clinch the West Rift Rivals 2018 crown at the Riot North American Studios in Los Angeles, California, Sunday early morning (Philippine time).
After being disheartened by their loss against NA's former top seed Team SoloMid (TSM) by their representative, the then-second seeded Unicorns of Love (UOL) in the Finals last year, 3-0, the Europeans didn't let that set them back and surged back after losing to NA's third seed Echo Fox (FOX) in the curtain-raiser of the Finals, securing the trophy for the Kings.
Despite being down a set point, EU slowly crawled its way back after first-seeded Fnatic (FNC)'s hard-fought triumph over NA's second seed 100 Thieves (100) behind Paul (sOAZ) Boyer's surprise Heimerdinger pick and sophomore mid laner Dasmus (Caps) Winther's perfect 5/0/3 KDA on Lucian.
And with that single win, the Europeans got their needed momentum and never looked back ever since.
EU then racked up two straight victories in the hands of Splyce (SPY), who dumped NA's top seed Team Liquid (TL) in 27 minutes behind Belgian mid laner Yasin (Nisqy) Dinçer's stellar showing on Zoe, and again, FNC, this time, securing a 23-minute dumping on FOX, with Winther and jungler Mads (Broxah) Brock-Pedersen spearheading through their combined 40 KDA Ratio (9/1/31 KDA).
For the Americans, their best chances of winning came in the curtain-raiser as their third-seed Echo Fox (FOX) banked on jungler Joshua (Dardoch) Harnett and mid laner Kim (Fenix) Jae-hun's wreaking havoc with Kindred and Lulu, respectively to claim a quick 23-minute win over former Kings of Europe, G2 Esports.
But they weren't able to channel the victory into succession in the next three games as they fell into Europe's trap, causing their downfall.

With the win, EU will bring home $20,000 in their pockets. NA, on the other hand, will receive $5,000.
