PASAY -- Lyceum and San Sebastian engage in a nip-and-tuck affair before the Pirates prevailed in  an 85-80 decision to cap off the opening day doubleheaders of NCAA 94 tonight at the MOA Arena.

Coach Topex Robinson and his mercenaries from Intramuros nearly took away their size advantage by turning the ball over 29 times, but found their composure just in time to eke out a close win.

Cameroonian Mike Harry Nzeusseu made himself big with a 20-20 game, scoring 23 points and pulled down 20 boards.

Reigning MVP CJ Perez backstopped their slotman with fifteen points despite shooting a horrible 33% from the field.

RK Ilagan paced the Stags with 18 points in a losing effort.

With no team leading by double figures thr entire game, Lyceum saw their third quarter onslaught almost disappear in the final period, as the lead exchanged hands near the end of the contest.

But MJ Ayaay saved the last of his four markers for the best, as he drilled in the floater with 28.3 ticks to go to seal their opening day win.
