SAN JUAN -- Lyceum have awoken from an early slump to subdue Arellano, 82-65 to remain unbeaten for the fourth time of asking to open the first-ever Tuesday tripleheader of NCAA Season 94 today at the FilOil-Flying V Centre.
The Pirates put the Chiefs to the sword thanks to their suffocating defense in the ensuing quarters and a career game of reigning MVP CJ Perez, who towed them to their 22nd consecutive win in the elimination round dating back from last season.
Perez notched 31 points on a blistering 83 percent from inside the arc, including 13 in the payoff period, eclipsing his previous career high of 28 against his former school San Sebastian last year.
LPU never gave Arellano headway after trailing by 14 at the end of the first quarter with the Chiefs failing to score past 13 points in the next three periods.
Michael Cañete scored 10 of his dozen in the opening frame but the entire squad of Legarda went cold as they were limited to just a point below their first quarter output to level their card at 1-1.
