The countdown to the 81st season of the UAAP is well under way and with only a month away, a lot has been in store in the country's most prestigious interscholastic league.

After being handed over the hosting rights by Far Eastern University to conclude the 80th season, National University unveiled its new logo and theme with the opening day tentatively set on September 8.

The key feature of the new logo of the season is the insertion of the Philippine sun inside the UAAP lettering that shows the colors of the league's eight schools which was dominated by the gold and blue combination of the host school.

Apart from that, NU also promote the season with the new theme, "IT ALL BEGINS HERE".

With the basics all set, the new hosts are also seeking a plethora of changes this year.

As reported by Matthew Li of Tiebreaker Times last May, NU are proposing host of reforms to the new season, the most prominent of which is the publication of the new rule book which will be given not just to basketball coaches, but to all coaches in all sports in the league.

"We’ll try and continue what FEU did, dapat walang controversy," said Nilo Ocampo, NU's member of the board of directors about the rule book that hopes to end any doubts on eligibility, as well as promoting transparency and accountability.
