Robert Bolick lead all scorers but it was the defense that shone for San Beda as they choke EAC. Rick Johnsen Dela Cruz/Dugout Philippines |
SAN JUAN -- Champions San Beda overcame a slow start and tore EAC to shreds in a 61-46 mauling to cap off another Tuesday triple-header in NCAA Season 94 Men's Basketball tilt tonight at the FilOil-Flying Centre.
The Red Lions gave their mentor Boyet Fernandez a belated birthday gift, choking the Generals into utter submission in the middle-quarters to remain unbeaten with their third win in a row, while keeping their victims winless for the fourth time on the trot.
Robert Bolick was the lone Bedan in double figures but his 15 points are enough for them to get the win, despite the Red Lions shot an atrocious 47% from the line.
Surprisingly, it was EAC who initiated things from the opening tip, when they lead by a single point at the end of the opening ten minutes, which they extended it to five, 18-13 in the early stages of the second period.
However, it was all San Beda the rest of the way as they took the lead for good on a crippling 10-0 run to put the Red Lions up by 8 at the break.
The ruthless defense continued in the third, when San Beda limited EAC to just eight points to keep their clean record to start the season.
