SBP says sorry after it "breached the bounds of traditional Filipino hospitality"

MANILA--The SBP said sorry for what transpired during the brawl between Gilas Pilipinas and Australia on Monday night at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue.


"As hosts, we regret having breached the bounds of traditional Filipino hospitality. As the national team representing flag and country, we extend apologies to the Filipino people," said President Al Panlilio in a statement on Tuesday.

He then reiterated, "SBP stands by its conviction that violence has no place in sports."

Panlilio also said that the SBP is looking at the incident thoroughly and will also await on the verdict of FIBA regarding the issue.
