Baste mauls Mapua amidst Ilagan's role in ligang-labas

SAN JUAN -- San Sebastian bounced back from two consecutive setbacks to deal Mapua its biggest defeat this season, blowing them out with a 94-70 thrashing in the first game of the Tuesday tripleheader at the FilOil-Flying V Centre.

After a close first half, a third quarter rally broke the game wide open for the Golden Stags, who had sat out RK Ilagan for the second game in a row after being caught on a "ligang-labas" alongside Letran' freshman Koy Galvelo.

Alvin Capobres fired 13 of his game-high 21 points in the penultimate frame to turn a 41-40 scoreline into a 70-53 rout in whch they never relinquished in a wire-to-wire win, their third of the season.

Cedric Pelayo top scored Mapua with 15 in a losing effort, their fourth in six games in the first round.
