SAN JUAN -- Sometimes in basketball, forty minutes is not enough.

EAC and San Sebastian went the extra mile before the Generals prevailed in an overtime thriller, 79-77 in the second of the Friday tripleheaders of the NCAA men basketbll tournament this afternoon at the FilOil-FlyingV Centre.

In a game that went down the wire, Ariel Sison's Generals finally got the winning charm for the fifth time of asking, especially after their heartbreaker on their own floor against Perpetual Help a couple of weeks ago.

After being benched in Tuesday's loss to San Beda, freshman Jp Maguliano exploded in his best game in an EAC uniform with a surprising double-double of 30 points and 17 rebounds as they overcame a 12-point deficit in regulation to force the extra session for the third time this season.

After being behind in the first half by nine, the Generals crawled their way back in the game, with Renz-Ives Gonzales split his charities for the first deadlock of the game at 69-all with 36.5 ticks left in the game.

The Stags had the first crack to win the game in regulation, but Allyn Bulanadi and Ken Villapando missed their chances to send it to the extra session.

EAC then overturned a four point deficit again in overtime with a six-point swing, capped off by consecutive splits from the line by Laminou and Jerome Garcia to give them the lead for good with 8.6 seconds remaining.

The win was sealed with their lockdown defence as Ian Valdez clanked his desperation trey at the buzzer.
