MANILA--San Miguel may need to play most of its PBA Governors' Cup games without its superstar.
The team's physician confirmed on Friday night that Junemar Fajardo will miss up to two months of play due to a leg injury.
In particular, the team doctor revealed that Fajardo has a stress fracture in his right shin.
Once he decides to take the full length of recovery, the 6-foot-10 behemoth can only make a return either by late October or early November or already late into the elimination round of the season-ending tournament.
The Beermen won't begin their campaign until Sept. 1, when they take on the NLEX Road Warriors.
With the time of recuperation also coinciding with the fourth window of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, it will also mean that interim head coach Yeng Guiao will not have Fajardo with his side as Gilas travels to Tehran to face Iran and hosts Qatar in a closed-door game in Quezon City.
