MANILA -- Letran steadied their nerves and survived a nervy 64-60 victory over the St. Benilde at the Varona Gym, Thursday evening.

Bong Quinto's tough fadeaway with 78 seconds into the game before a full-house gym gave them a precarious two-point cushion. He finished with 17 points, in addition to his 6 rebounds and 1 assist in 32 minutes of action.

"CSB is a very strong team, but the character displayed by the boys really stood up," said coach Jeff Napa during the post-game interview. "Despite having another slow start, the end game is more important," he further added.

The Knights started flat, as in their previous outings before getting their groove as the game ran through. The also hiked their record to 3-1 win-loss slate, while the Blazers slid to 2-3.

Larry Muyang and Chris Fajarito also made significant contributions for the Knights, each having 10 markers in their names. Fajarito also added 11 rebounds and an assist.

CSB held tough most of the game, even leading by as many as eight points in several stretches before folding to the Knights' aggressiveness on both ends.

Yankee Haruna and Clement Leutcheu combined for 23 markers, on top of their 12 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal for a losing effort.

Earlier in juniors action, La Salle Greenhills Greenies made mincemeat of Letran Squires, 82-66.

LSGH hiked their standing to 4 wins as against 1 defeat, while the Squires fell further with a 1-3 win-loss card.

The Greenies blew hot outright, catching the Squires' defensive rhythm in disarray. Sydney Mosqueda sizzled the Squires, pacing all scorers with 19 points (12 in the 2nd half, 5-for-8 from rainbow), in addition to his 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

The lead even grew to 22 points midway in the payoff period before settling for the final verdict.

Shawn Umali paced the Squires with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists for the loss.
