TNC Predator splits assignments in TI8 debut

By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA--TNC Predator went on-and-off on Thursday (Philippine Time) as the club went 2-2 to start its campaign in The International 2018 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver.

The Filipino side failed to follow up on a dominating performance against Vici as the club found itself on the wrong end of Newbee's own domination.

TNC Predator caught Vici on an off game in Game 1 of their two-game series, and the former quickly deposed the latter to take the series lead.

Later, despite an impressive showing as Tiny, Zeng Jiaoyang failed to get enough support from his Vici teammates as Marc Fausto, using Timbersaw, led TNC Predator's charge in Game 2 to seal the 2-0 sweep.

However, Newbee's Korean-Australian reinforcement Damien Chok went on a tear to lead Newbee to its own 2-0 sweep of TNC Predator.

As Necrophos, Chok went 13-2-7 on kills, deaths, and assists to lead Newbee's offensive as Fausto's Weaver was the only bright spot for TNC Predator in Game 1 of their own series.

Then as Pangolier, Chok played a perfect game with seven kills and 10 assists to backstop Song Chun's hot showing as Storm Spirit as Newbee caught TNC Predator off-target in Game 2.

TNC Predator will next face Pain at 12 a.m. Friday (Philippine Time) before battling Optic later in the day.
