TAGUIG--The girl power continues for the Philippines in the Asian Games.

Judoka Kiyomi Watanabe netted the country's first silver medal in the 2018 edition of the said meet, making the final of the women's under-63 kilogram division on Thursday.

The Filipina-Japanese fighter defeated Gankhaich Bold of Mongolia in the semifinals to assure herself of the silver.

However, Watanabe fell prey to Nami Nabekura of Japan in the championship match despite having a good start.

Still, Watanabe gave the Philippines its first Asiad medal in judo ever or since the sport was included in 1986 as well as making an improvement from her seventh place finish in 2014.
