MANILA--The long wait is over for the Weekend Futbol League-Elite to kick off its second season on Thursday night, with six teams battling for the crown vacated by Kaya Elite.

In the 7 p.m. curtain-raiser in Zobel, former UFL side and last season's runner-up Green Archers United looks for the best of starts when they tangle the UAAP's Adamson in the tournament now sponsored by Globe and sanctioned by the NCRFA as the region's Division 1 league.

On Saturday noon, the reserves of the PFL's Stallion Laguna looks to give their first team a moral boost on the eve of their important tiff with Kaya Iloilo when they take on another ex-UFL club in Navy in their own Binan stable.

And on Sunday, Army lock horns in Ateneo in Fort Bonifacio to cap off the opening week of fixtures.
