MANILA--Camarines Sur scored the first gold of the 2018 Batang Pinoy National Championship in Baguio right on Day 1 of the week-long meet on Monday.
Mary Grace Joson got the honor of striking the said medal after winning in the girls discus throw event at the Baguio City Athletic Bowl.
Joson's farthest throw was measure at 26.87 meters, enough to edge Zambales' Janine Ledina, whose farthest throw was measured at 27.64. Both throwers actually made three identical throws of the said respective distances each.
Althea Guadalupe of General Santos bounced back from two throwing errors to capture the bronze with the farthest throw of 26.54 meters, which she also achieved thrice.
