BIÑAN--The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League and the Philippines Football League decided not to push through with their scheduled games for Saturday in Cavite due to Typhoon Ompong, which has already made a landfall.

The regional basketball league announced its advisory first, stalling its scheduled doubleheader at the Strike Gym in Bacoor.

Cebu City takes on Quezon City in the first game, while Bacoor City defends its turf against Zamboanga.

Minutes later, the regional football league followed suit, putting the supposed match-up between JPV Marikina and Global Cebu at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona on hold.

The match is rescheduled for Sunday with the kick-off time to be announced.

The announcement came a day after the PFF announced the postponement of its PFF Women's League games for the entire game also at the said turf.

Cavite has been placed under Signal No. 1 since Friday but is expected to be taken out once the typhoon leaves the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
