MANILA--Gab Banal matched his Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League career-high, and Bacoor City added more woes to struggling Pasig with an 84-59 whipping at the STRIKE Gymnasium in Bacoor on Tuesday night.

Banal, fresh from a stint with the I-ECO Green Warriors in The Terrific 12 tournament in Macau, equaled his best scoring output with the Strikers by making 25 points on 7-of-11 shooting off the bench as they tore the Pirates early on, opening the game with a 26-11 first quarter and never looking back from there.

Banal also had nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals even as Mark Montuano contributed 13 points, four rebounds, and two assists as Bacoor City checked a two-game slide and ties Laguna in fourth place in the Southern Division standings at 5-4.

Bong Melocoton made 10 markers for Pasig, which further slipped to 1-8.
