PASIG--Coach Yeng Guiao deferred from making an announcement regarding his lineup for Gilas Pilipinas against Iran on Sept. 13.

While he clarified that a 12-man roster has already been made, he can only announce it once all the concerns have been cleared.

"There are still issues which prevent me from naming the final lineup tonight," Guiao said during the national team's return to practice at the Meralco Gym on Monday night.

In particular, he stressed the eligibility of Greg Slaughter, Stanley Pringle, and Chris Standhardinger.

"We have to be certain of the situation of Greg, Christian, and Stanley," continued Guiao.

He then said that the focus right now is on clarifying whether Slaughter can play as a local or not.

The Ginebra center, a member of the pioneering Gilas Pilipinas squad, represented the country in the 2011 FIBA Asia Champions Cup.

He also played for the Philippines in the SEA Games the same year under the Sinag Pilipinas squad, the predecessor of the Gilas Cadets.

However, Slaughter's eligibility for the Gilas Elites remains under question since the FIBA Asia Champions Cup is a club tournament and that the SEA Games is not FIBA-sanctioned.

That's why the management is looking to get the necessary documents that can prove that Slaughter is eligible as a local as soon as possible.

"If we're not able to complete the documents of Greg, lalong hihirap ang situation natin because we have to choose between these three guys on who we will designate as our naturalized player," Guiao further said.

Despite the focus being on Slaughter, Guiao said that he would love to see him, Pringle, and Standhardinger play as locals.

"We hope we can make them play as local Filipinos," Guiao added.
