Robert Lopez-Mendy (#17, middle) roars after celebrating one of his two strikes as Kaya Iloilo came back thrice for a six-goal draw. PFL |
MANILA -- Kaya Iloilo came from behind not once, but three times to force a 3-3 draw against Global Cebu in Sunday's Copa Paulino Alcantara action tonight in Rizal Memorial.
Noel Marcaida's men inched closer to clinch the top spot in Group B, despite losing Eric Giganto to a straight red that reduced them to ten men the rest of the way.
Joshua Beloya scored against his old club just five minutes into the match hitting from inside the box past Ace Villanueva.
Tempers flared in the 21st minute when Jordan Jarvis and Eric Giganto came to blows after the former put the latter to the ground on a vicious tackle, in which the former FEU standout retaliated on him with a punch in which he was sent off directly for that.
When the smoke cleared, Tanton leveled the match three minutes later, getting his free kick just past Florencio Badelic into the right side.
The heated tie continued in the second half, where Robert Lopez-Mendy shone the brightest as he saved Kaya Iloilo twice when the going gets tought.
Two minutes after Beaton scored against his former club in the 57th minute to grab a 2-1 lead, the Senegalese quickly leveled the match when he poked the ball from inside the box.
Five minutes later, Jarvis fired a header from a Richard Talaroc corner to give Global the lead for the final time.
Lopez-Mendy saved his brace for the best, as he equalized on a header from a Tanton corner.
