MANILA--The Philippine Basketball Association and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas bolstered their alliance as a possible Philippine participation in the FIBA World Cup next year looms.
The league once again extended its full support to the national sports association's cause during the former's annual planning session at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.
It will basically mean a team made up of the league's best players will represent the Philippines in the FIBA World Cup in China should the country qualify.

"Without a doubt, the partnership of the PBA and the SBP has become more solid. And this is a big, big plus for our national team," said Al Panlilio, the president of the local basketball governing body, who also represents Meralco in the league board.
PBA board chairman Ricky Vargas, who is also leading the Philippine Olympic Committee, is more than elated with the improved partnership between the league and the SBP.
"All of these won't be possible without the gracious support and cooperation of the PBA," said Vargas.
