MANILA--With Blackwater finally suffering its first defeat in the PBA Governors' Cup, the race for the top spot in the elimination round became way tighter.

While the Elite were still in the tight race for number one despite being 4-0, their loss to the NLEX Road Warriors opened up an opportunity for other teams to go on top.

Two of them, Phoenix and Ginebra, will vie for the said spot when they clash on Saturday night at the Xavier University Gym in Cagayan De Oro.

The Fuel Masters actually took the top spot without sweat when the Elite fell to the Road Warriors, but a win against the Barangay in their 5 p.m. showdown will give them some separation in the top seed race.

Apart from that, a Phoenix victory will have the team put one foot on an outright quarterfinal seat.

On the other hand, Ginebra can take the top spot with a win, and the team is coming into the game with high morale after beating San Miguel on Sunday night.
