PASAY CITY – The Ateneo Blue Eagles took over in their much-awaited rivalry game with the DLSU Green Archers, hitting a 71-55 victory for the blue side.
The Blue Eagles saw a rough first quarter thanks to the Archers’ tight defense. They were sent struggling by their archrivals who refused to let them hit a basket on the first few minutes, but eventually found their footing five minutes in – just to lose it right after with tragic turnovers.
The latter half saw the fired-up Blue Eagles putting their aggression into converting and forcing turnovers from the Archers.
Aljun Melecio’s efforts to out-shoot and Justine Baltazar’s attempts to out-rebound the Eagles were sent down the drain as the Eagles managed to eventually hold them down and have Ange Kouame sweep the court with a double-double.
