MANILA--The two Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League clubs with Tigers as their monikers will collide on Saturday night as the league pays a visit to an old Metropolitan Basketball League arena.

Davao Occidental will play host to Mandaluyong in the main game of the weekend twinbill at the Rizal Memorial College Gym in Davao City.

The 9 p.m. "clash of cats" is actually a battle between teams going opposite ways.

The Tigers are currently on a six-game winning streak that saw themselves moving closer with the surprisingly reeling Muntinlupa Cagers at the top spot in the Southern Division.

Speaking of reeling, the El Tigre are in the said situation, dropping their last three games following a six-game winning run of their own and now finding themselves down to number six in the Northern Division standing after going toe-to-toe with the Bataan Risers, Manila Stars, and the San Juan Knights at the top of the said division.

The curtain-raiser at 7 p.m. between Quezon City and Pasay is also a battle between a team on the rise and another struggling.

The Voyagers suddenly came alive recently, winning their last two games, and they are now inside the Top 8 in the North.

The Capitals, on the other hand, dropped their last two games and are still in search of a breakthrough win that could catapult them back to the playoff race.
