Former Bullpups star ‘JLC’ finally barks out for Bulldogs

MANILA - It was worth the wait as "JLC" barged back NU to the winning column.

John Lloyd Clemente, the former King Bullpup of Nazareth School of the National University, showcased all of his skills and provided 21 points and four rebounds to thrust the National University Bulldogs to an 88-61 victory over the University of the East Red Warriors, Saturday afternoon at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

“Siyempre masaya ako kasi para sa NU ‘tong ginagawa ko. Lalo pa naming pagbubutihin para masuklian namin ng championship ang NU,” he said, as he himself was a champion on his bullpups days and really wanted to help and lift the team out off the 5 losing skid for the bulldogs.

“Yung breakout game ko, na-feel ko talaga na kada shoot ko, pasok lahat. Parang ang laki ng ring para sa akin ngayong araw na ‘to,” he shared that knowing this might really his day showing all his might on the court.

He then continued, “Feeling ko talaga, gagawa ako ngayon. Yung teammates ko, hinahanap din kasi ako.” And one of those teammates was that JLC referring to was Dave Ildefonso, another rookie player the Bulldogs are relying on to do the heavy lifting for the squad.

“Wala namang pressure. Nag-eenjoy naman kaming dalawa maglaro nang magkasama,tapos 5 years pa kami magkakasama niyan ni Dave kaya sa susunod pa naming game dapat yung connection naming mas matibay.” he shared about their relationship with the younger Ildefonso.

“Minsan, nagbabantayan kami sa practice tapos minsan, naghahamunan din sa 1-on-1,” he continued, as their connection is really much needed to be establish and firm for the years to come and be a more dangerous for the Sampaloc-based squad.
