SAN JUAN - Although their Final Four hopes are slim, the Ateneo Lady Eagles were able to pull off another win against their Katipunan rivals with a score of 63 to 51 and improve their record to 3-6.
The Lady Eagles got off to a quick start and never looked back. They dictated the tempo of the game from the very start by outscoring the Lady Maroons 21 to 8. Although they fought hard to push back and get back into the game, UP's offense shot at a dismal 22.6% which put them into a very deep hole throughout.
Both teams' defense and resolve were tested in the 4th quarter as both struggled to make field goals even off fast break opportunities. The Lady Maroons had no answer for the great team basketball that the Lady Eagles were playing with an assist total of 8 and 15, respectively.
Caramia Buendia had 14 points to lead all scorers while Danielle De Guzman was UP's leading scorer with 11 points.
