PASIG -- Pinoy darts ruled supreme once again to cap off the final stop of the inaugural PDC Asian Tour, after Noel Malicdem brushed aside Singaporean legend Paul Lim, 5-2 in the event 12 title match Sunday evening here at the Crowne Plaza Ballroom.
Set to debut in his first-ever World Championship in two month's time, the 40-year-old completed the Filipino sweep by hitting six 140s and 3 maximums en route to average 99.7 in the final match of the tour, after starting it by hitting the first nine-darter in the very first final last March.
Earlier in the last 16, Malicdem broke Seigo Asada's three-dart average record in the tour by hitting 110.5 to whitewash Ryan Ocampo 5-0.
The Slinger prevented another all-Filipino final after getting his revenge on Lourence Ilagan with an identical 5-3 score in the other semifinal, after getting the job done on the eighth leg after seeing his 4-1 lead evaporate after the Gunner fired back with two legs to mount a comeback.
Lim also came from 0-2 down to level the match at 2-2 against Malicdem, but the Gentle Giant of Marikina will not be denied by winning the final three legs, including a title-clinching 104 much to the delight of the Filipino crowd.
