MANILA--Almond Vosotros introduced himself to the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League community with a flurry, helping Caloocan take an 84-75 victory against GenSan at the Jose Rizal University Gym in Mandaluyong on Thursday night.
Vosotros, a former member of the Gilas Cadets, put up 23 points to backstop Mar Villahermosa's 25 as the Supremos recovered from the Warriors' early barrage.
GenSan erupted for 28 points in the first quarter, which seemed like an early sign of the team's offensive efficiency over Caloocan.
But the Supremos slowed the Warriors down in the next three quarters, not even letting them breach the 20-point mark in each of the last three periods while consistently going 20 or more to steal the win.
Vosotros and Villahermosa each made four triples, making up all but two of Caloocan's made long bombs. Paul Sanga converted the other two treys.
Vosotros actually had a double-double as he grabbed 11 rebounds alongside six assists and three steals, although he too committed six errors, a sign that he has still to adjust to the MPBL brand of play.
Meylan Landicho fired 13 points, one rebound, two assists, and two steals for GenSan.
