MANILA--Ifugao representative Teddy Baguilat is all praises to Kevin Belingon after he successfully unified the interim and the regular One bantamweight championships on Friday night at One: Heart of Lion.

"Belingon embodied the Ifugao fighting spirit and values of perseverance and hard work, helping him prevail... over [Bibiano] Fernandes, thus ending the Brazilian’s eight year, 14-fight streak," Baguilat said in a statement on Saturday.

Belingon hails from the town of Kiangan.

Baguilat also expressed optimism on Belingon now that he joins Brandon Vera and fellow Team Lakay stalwarts Joshua Pacio and Geje Eustaquio as mixed martial arts champs under the One Championship banner, saying that he "is confident that even greater things are in store for the proud Ifugao."

Belingon defeated Fernandes via split decision to become the undisputed One bantamweight champ at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
