Santillan-led Green Archers assured Final Four spot after eliminating Bulldogs

By Sherlyn Paleg

QUEZON CITY - The DLSU Green Archers marched closer to another UAAP Final Four appearance after eliminating the NU Bulldogs with an 84-77 triumph on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Five players from the Green and White contributed double digits in scoring that proved too much for the Bulldogs.

With that win, the Green Archers are now at the solo third spot of the standings at 8-4, securing them at least a playoff for the Final Four berth, while the Bulldogs slide down to 3-9, missing the Final Four for the three straight year.

With the absence of DLSU's Captain Kib Montalbo due to an injury, Santi Santillan took charge for the Green Archers and dropped 18 points on 8-of-14 field goals, 5 rebounds, and an assist while rookie Joaqui Manuel had a career-high of 10 points on 4-of-8 field goals with 2 rebounds and 3 assists.

NU rookies Dave Ildefonso and John Lloyd Clemente put up 20 and 19 points respectively.

DLSU will face arch-rival Ateneo on Sunday, Nov. 11, 4 p.m., at the Big Dome while earlier in the day, NU will face FEU at 12 p.m.
