Soaring Falcons enter Final Four after beating Growling Tigers

By Sherlyn Paleg

QUEZON CITY - The Adamson Soaring Falcons took the second spot in the UAAP Final Four seat after beating the UST Growling Tigers with a 96-83 victory.

It was very close in the first half. Both teams were scoring at a rapid march, but UST ended it with a one-point lead, 40-39 after Renzo Subido dashed back-to-back triples.

Adamson soared high in the third quarter, dropping a 15-0 run to lead, 54-40.

Adding to the woes, CJ Cansino fell awkwardly and suffered a left ankle injury at the 4:16 mark of the final frame. He still made a return to play, but the result was already settled by then.

Sean Manganti dropped 22 points on top of 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the Falcons, while Simon Camacho made 15 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.

Subido and Marvin Lee contributed 21 and 18 points to help the Tigers.

UST fell to 6th place with a 5-7 record and they will face another Final Four contender, UP, on Saturday, 4 p.m., while Adamson will next face UE also on Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
