By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA--Bataan quickly returned to its winning ways in the MPBL Datu Cup after holding off Rizal, 88-74, at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City on Thursday night.

Banking on their balanced attack, the Risers, who saw their league-record 14-game winning streak snapped at home against the San Juan Knights last week, limited the Crusaders to just 13 points in the first quarter before going on a 25-14 third quarter to virtually seal the rout.

Gary David and Richard Escoto each tallied 10 points for Bataan, which stretched its season's best record at 15-2.

Gab Dagangon came close to a double-double with 11 rebounds and nine points with three assists and one block.

Marco Balagtas came up with 23 markers, nine boards, two dimes, two blocks, and one steal for Rizal, which fell to last place in the Southern Division at 5-13.
