Petron repeats over F2 Logistics for PSL All-Filipino title

SAN JUAN-- Petron Blaze completed its title defense in the 2018 Chooks-to-Go Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference with a 25-22, 25-24, 25-23 thumping of rivals F2 Logistics in the winner-take-all Game 3 Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Centre. 

Denied in its bid for a sweep by the Cargo Movers in Game 2 on Tuesday, the Blaze Spikers banked on veterans Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Bernadeth Pons for the team's fourth PSL crown.

Newly-minted Best Opposite spiker Maizo-Pontillas led Petron with 13 points on 12 ttacks and a kill block, while Pons issued all 11 markers on spikes. Ces Molina and Mika Reyes each contributed nine markers.

Setter Rhea Dimaculangan had a field day with 31 excellent sets even as Molina contributed defensively with 22 digs.

Petron lorded it over in the kills department, 45-29, while firing five service aces and five blocks. The Cargo Movers' bright stat was its 10 kill blocks while it took advantage of Petrons' 26 miscues. 

Cha Cruz-Behag and Ara Galang paced F2, which now lost three of its five meetings with Petron, with 10 points apiece while libero Dawn Macandili had 25 excellent digs.

Petron took the headstart with a 23-25, 11-25, 17-25 win in Game 1, but F2 bounced back with a
21-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-17 success to force the rubber match.
