MANILA--Almond Vosotros went on a pre-Christmas tear to lead Caloocan to a 90-87 victory against Valenzuela in the MPBL Datu Cup at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in Malolos on Saturday night.

Vosotros put up 33 points, his best scoring output so far in his professional basketball career in all competitions, to lead the Supremos to a tight victory against the Classic despite losing an early double-digit lead.

Caloocan led, 37-27, with 1:55 left in the first half as the team was set on dealing its neighbor a blowout defeat.

However, Valenzuela came alive in the third quarter, dropping 32 points to go up, 65-62, before opening the fourth on a 7-1 run for a 72-63 cushion.

The Supremos recovered and turned the game into a close one before a Vosotros layup sparked the game-deciding 7-0 run that helped give them the win despite splitting their last six free throws.

Vosotros also had six rebounds, eight assists, and four steals for Caloocan, which moved up to 6-13, two games off the playoff positions in the Northern Division.

Paul Sanga added 21 points, five rebounds, two steals, and one block.

Paolo Hubalde came up with 23 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and six steals, while Ford Ruaya added 22 points, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal for Valenzuela, which dropped to a tie with Pampanga for ninth place at 7-11.
