PARANAQUE--With all the early drama on whether Ray-Ray Parks will sign up with Blackwater or not, reports suddenly surfaced just before Christmas that he is set to be traded to Meralco in a rumored three-team swap that will see Baser Amer moving to TNT.

This was obviously a surprise to the Bolt fans, who see Amer as a pillar of the franchise moving forward.

For him, however, he is staying optimistic.

"Be positive lang and be professional, kasi itong mga players, di namin control yung mga ganung situation," Amer told Dugout Philippines how he handled the rumors on Thursday during the PBA Media Day at the Solaire Tent. "Basta ako, I'm happy na nandito ako ngayon sa Meralco, and I'm excited sa mga darating na games."

He then said that the drama surrounding his future with the team did not affect Meralco's preseason buildup.

"Lahat ng practice and mga tune-up namin, positive naman yung result, so hopefully, ma-a-apply namin sa games."

Amer remains a Bolt--at least for now--and for this season, he looks forward to further embracing the role as one of their new leaders.

"Maging consistent lang sa offense and defense, ang maging leader kami sa team, and more vocal," he shared his goals for the new season.
