BOCAUE--Despite an opening night win against TNT, Ginebra coach Tim Cone rued that his squad is still far from the match fitness that he thinks is optimal.
"We are not in great shape as we are," Cone said.
The 23,711 people at the Philippine Arena thought the Barangay are set to blast the KaTropa early on as they closed the first quarter on a 14-5 run to take a 28-15 lead.
But in the middle two periods, the game shape factor began to sink in as Ginebra let TNT score 27 points in the second quarter and only scored 14 in the third and the lead was chopped down to six, 63-57.
Not to mention Japeth Aguilar having to go back to the locker room after becoming not feeling well.
"He had to leave the floor eventually cause he started feeling nauseous and actually went back to the locker room," Cone further said.
Eventually, the Barangay regained their poise in the fourth quarter and finally took down the KaTropa.
"It was good to go out there and get that win against Talk 'n Text," Cone further said.
