UP Lady Maroons survive five-setter game against UE

SAN JUAN - After dominating PVL and PSL as champion, UP Lady Maroons prevail in the first day of UAAP Season 81 Volleyball against the UE Lady Warriors, after a thrilling five-setter game 25-12, 22-25, 23-25, 25-18, 15-12, Saturday afternoon, at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Captain Tots Carlos and Co-Captain Isa Molde led the Lady Maroons win, as the Lady Maroons are considered as a top contender in the UAAP after winning two championship titles at the PVL and PSL during the off season.

UP's Isa Molde got 23 points, 10 excellent receptions, two aces and two blocks while Tots Carlos got 17 points that greatly help on the Lady Maroons win. The comeback of Justine Dorog got her 12 points, 18 excellent digs and seven excellent receptions.

UE's Judith Abil led the Lady Warriors with 20 points and 21 excellent receptions while the former UAAP Season 80 Best Digger and Best Receiver Kath Arado got 32 digs and 18 excellent receptions.

UP Lady Maroons (1-0) will try to gain more wins as they go against the FEU Lady Tamaraws (1-0) on Wednesday, February 20 while UE Lady Warriors will try to gain a win against the rookie laden NU Lady Bulldogs (0-1) on Saturday, February 23. Both games will be at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
