PASAY CITY - UST Golden Tigresses beat the Adamson Lady Falcons in a thrilling five-setter match, 25-21, 25-22, 24-26, 24-26, 15-6, on the second day of the UAAP Season 81 Volleyball, Sunday afternoon at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Captain Sisi Rondina and former UAAP Juniors Volleyball MVP Eya Laure led the Golden Tigresses with 17 points each. Rondina on her last playing year got 17 digs, 50 attacks and 11 aces, as well while Laure's debut in the UAAP Seniors Volleyball got her 13 attacks, three blocks and an ace.
Last year's Rookie of the Year Alessandrini got 15 points as well. Rookie Kecelyn Galdones had eight points, as well.
Bern Flora and Eli Soyud led the Lady Falcons with 14 and 13 points respectively with the help of Permentilla and Dacoron with 12 and 10 points each. Rookie Setter Nikka Yandoc got 34 excellent sets as well for the Lady Falcons.
UST Golden Tigresses (1-0) will growl next against the Ateneo Lady Eagles (0-1) on Wednesday, 2 p.m., while the Adamson Lady Falcons (0-1) will face the defending champion DLSU Lady Spikers (1-0) on Saturday, 4 p.m. Both games will be at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
