MANILA — Seven clubs will collide in the new season of the Philippine Premier League starting on March 30.

As announced by Commissioner Bernie Sumayao on Friday, leading the way for the teams that will participate in the rehashed top flight league are defending champion Ceres Negros and reigning Copa Paulino Alcantara winner Kaya Iloilo.

Stallion Laguna and United Makati are the other holdovers from last season, when the league was still known as the Philippines Football League, that will join the PPL this year.

Green Archers United, the reigning champion of the WFL Elite last season, essentially made a promotion to the PPL as its participation was also confirmed, while Air Force and Mendiola complete the cast.

"We thank these seven teams for confirming their participation in the PPL," Sumayao said.

A doubleheader will open the new season at the Rizal Memorial Stadium here.

The curtain-raiser will kick off at 4 p.m., while the main game will follow at 7 p.m.
