MUNTINLUPA--Mohammad Managil got a headstart to his bid to get a spot in the national team of obstacle course racing as he won the men's elite division of the Allianz Conquer Challenge at Filinvest City on Sunday.

Managil flew all the way from Cebu to participate and eventually rule the five-kilometer run wherein the racers had to clear 20 obstacle courses along the track.

Managil took home PHP10,000 in cash plus the lowest points allotted for the said race, the first of four OCR's that will serve as basis for the selection of the national team that will compete in the inaugural Southeast Asian Games OCR event, at four.

VJ Miranda took the second spot for PHP8,000 and five SEAG Selection Points, while Jeffrey Reginio won third place for PHP5,000 and six points.

In the women's elite division, Jenny Magannon won it all and like Managil also claimed PHP10,000 and four points.

Sandy Abahan finished second, while Glorien Merisco took third place.

The racer with the lowest accumulated points per gender after the four races, the other three being in Bocaue, Angeles, and another place that will be announced soon, will get a direct invite to the national team.

Pilipinas Obstacle Sports Federation president Al Agra said that the number of runners who will make up the national team will be determined soon.
