SAN JUAN, MM—Gab Banal was hailed as the Most Valuable Player of the MPBL Datu Cup during the season awards at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Monday night.

Banal won the most prized individual award after getting the most votes among the coaches of the 26 participating teams, members of the media, and league founder Manny Pacquiao.

Despite having to miss some of Bacoor City's games due to his stint with Mighty Sports in the Dubai International Basketball Championship earlier this year, Banal still got the nod over fellow All-MPBL First Team members Aris Dionisio, Mark Yee, Cris Bitoon, and Allan Mangahas following a season highlighted by three triple-doubles.

Dionisio, on the other hand, won the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Zamboanga's Harold Arboleda, Davao Occidental's Leo Najorda, Biñan's Michael Mabulac, Navotas' Jai Reyes, and San Juan's John Wilson made up the All-MPBL Second Team.

Bulacan's Jay-R Taganas won the Sportsmanship Award.
